8 Quick and Easy Ways to Clean a Glass Bong

How long has it been since your glass bongs were cleaned? First, it's important to understand why it's important to clean your glass bong frequently. The first major feature of the bong is its water. Water filters out all smoke. You can get the best filtration, but smoking with a dirty bong that has been accumulating bacteria around is not a healthy decision.

Now that we've convinced you to clean your dirty bong, here's what you need and how to do it. Today we are going to share the simple steps to clean the bong.

Step 1

Carefully disassemble your glass bong. Remove mouthpieces, bowls and other accessories. Drain all dirty water and rinse with clean water.

About dumping old water. Bang water is sticky and resinous, so pouring it down the drain is not ideal if you can avoid it. If you have a properly sealed garbage bag, you can either put it in the trash can, or you can put it in an airtight container for disposal.

Step 2

Follow up with two to three tablespoons of kosher salt. Isopropyl alcohol is used as a disinfectant to remove oil from residual sticky resin, while salt is used as an abrasive. This salt helps to gently scrub the inside of the bong to remove the resin. Alcohol alone cleans it fine, but salt removes buildup on the sides of the bong.

If you use a special bong to clean the isopropyl mixture, pour it into the bong. If you don't want to use isopropyl alcohol, you can also use white vinegar and baking soda - let it soak longer. Then place the bong in a zippered bag.

Step 3

Close the bag and shake vigorously. Parts can get dirty, so seal the bag to shake the alcohol and salt mixture inside the bong. Then let it soak for 10 or 30 minutes, depending on how dirty you got your bong, but letting it soak does improve the alcohol's effectiveness in cleaning glass.

Step 4

Remove bong and discard bag. That's why bags are key: You can simply seal a bag full of dirty water and throw it away.

Step 5

Rinse the inside with warm water, cover the top, shake and empty the contents. Dishwashing liquid and warm water do a good job of breaking down any residual oil on the glass.

Step 6

Clean the outside of the bong with dish soap and a sponge.

Step 7

To clean loose debris, be sure to remove any debris, especially in the bowl. Soak all loose pieces in a ziplock bag with isopropyl alcohol and a few tablespoons of salt for 10 minutes.

Step 8

Shake the bag, then rinse the debris with water until clean.

Now you have a clean glass bong, enjoy it!
